While it's harder to get around in and around hilly areas, the high number of tourists who visit Himachal has made the state well connected by many types of transportation. When you go on an India tour to Himachal, the best India vacation packages include travel as well.

  • By Bus: There are many buses that go to Shimla, Manali, and Dharamshala from Punjab, Delhi, and Haryana.
  • Take the train: Pathankot and Kalka are both central gauge railway stations that are next to Punjab and Haryana. They are linked to Himachal Pradesh through the Kangra Valley and Shimla, respectively.
  • By plane: Himachal has a lot of tourists, so it's common to fly in and around the state. It's easy to get in and out of the state by air thanks to the airports in Chandigarh, Pathankot (which is on the border with Himachal), and three smaller airports in the state itself.

Places to visit in Himachal

  • Shimla - Known as "Queen of Hills," it is a beautiful colonial hill station that brings a lot of tourists to Himachal. Some of the best colonial buildings are there, like the Town Hall and the Gaiety Theatre. You can go trekking and do other outdoor activities there. Shimla is a thousand times more beautiful in the winter, when snow covers the whole town. Most tours of Himachal don't miss the chance to see this beautiful queen.
  • Manali - Situated at an elevation of 2,050 meters in the valley of the River Beas, it is one of the best places to visit in India. It is a big part of Himachal tourism because it brings in a lot of tourists from other countries. Nature lovers and spiritual seekers alike are drawn to the areas with their lush pine and deodar forests, snow-covered hills, and waterfalls. Manali is a town that everyone can enjoy, which is why it is at the top of all Himachal tour packages.
  • Dharamshala - It is an important part of every Himachal tour package. It may have one of the best climates in Himachal Pradesh. The beautiful Dhauladhar mountains and dense pine and deodar forests all around Dharamshala are another reason why so many people visit Himachal. What more could a traveler want? Don’t overlook this!

Maghi Saaji

A lot of people in Himachal love the Maghi or Lohri festival, which marks the end of the growing season for the rabi crops. Huge bonfires are lit on this day, and people from different groups dress in bright clothes and dance and sing around them. This makes Himachal tourism more interesting. This is a lot like trick-or-treating on Halloween: kids go door to door to get money.

Festival of Phulaich

Himachal holds a flower festival called Phulaich in September. The 16th day of the Hindu month "Bhadrapada" is when people go to hilly areas where wild, exotic, and strongly scented flowers grow. They don't come back until the 18th day. Over the course of a week, people sing and dance under the deodar trees on the night of the return.

Going trekking

The beautiful Triund Hill lets you go trekking, and from there you can see the Gallu Devi Temple, the Shiva Café, the Shri Kunal Pathri Devi Temple, and the Bhagsu Waterfalls.

Playing golf

The Naldehra Golf Course has a beautiful setting where you can test your golf skills. There are great views from this nine-hole golf course, as well as a deodar orchard.

Hang Gliding

Visitors can go heli-skiing at Hanuman Tibba, where they can enjoy beautiful views and the thrill of skiing in the snow.

Losar

People in Tibet celebrate the new year called Losar. It's the start of winter and something that everyone should do while they're in Himachal. It can last from 3 to 10 days. Himachal Pradesh has a very rich culture, which is shown by its many images, large processions, ritual dances, and worship of local gods.

Festival in Halda

Halda is another important New Year festival in Himachal. During the day, people worship the goddess of wealth at a special ceremony. At night, there are bonfires, dances, music, and a big meal. People also bring lit cedar twigs to throw into the fires to show that they are coming together from different communities.
